its been over a year since my last tattoo and was gonna use the window before the next design to give a bit of blood, the unit is in town on sunday...
since january i have been hitting the veg (was squeezing into 38in jeans, now down to under 32in) and have been struck with no illness so far this year ::touch wood:: and have never felt better, so generally im sound!
some boy in the boozer told me that he got really sick after he gave and this i can really do without on sunday as ill be enjoying weekend contact with my wee boy (NOTHING SHALL SPOIL MY SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME WITH HIM)

Giving blood is no big deal. The nurses/nurses aides/volunteer monkeys that draw the blood do it enough that it doesn't hurt and they give you juice and cookies when you are done.
I have given blood quite a few times since high school, the last time was on the morning of September 11, 2001. I was dropping my oldest daughter off at her mother's and there was a blood van getting set up. The collection point was scheduled before all of the events and it was just a coincidence that they were collecting blood on that particular day. The first plane hit after they started collecting blood and the I was in the van when the first tower fell. When I got there, there was nobody donating so I got in pretty quick. But soon after that, they were turning people away because they could handle the crowd.
That guy that you talk about getting sick is a pussy and should not be trusted. Don't try to over exert yourself after giving and wait a few hours before hitting the bottle and you'll be fine.

I've given blood a few times and I was nervous the first time because of people telling me stories of people passing out, feeling woozy and this and that. Like Wrecker said, it's absolutely no big deal and they give you YUMMIES afterwards!

I've given blood over 35 times, never had a problem and usually get compliments on my veins.
I've donated while in the middle of a long fasting period and stuff like that just to see what would happen - but nothing :-(
It kind of depends on if you are the sort of person who has fainted before, get nauseous easily etc. Is your blood pressure good? Make sure you eat stuff with iron in it.
As you may know, bloodletting was a prescribed therapy back in the day, and I think it's a good thing to do as a general health tonic once in awhile. |

I gave blood for the last time 2 years ago. Within 2 months after donating I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Embolism. Good luck. They think it came from un-sanitary conditions in the blood mobile. Good luck. I will /can never give my shit away now.

have fainted once, on the plane after caning it heavily on a football trip to valencia last year, very little sleep...
i used to be a quality control officer in a chicken processing factory and like all employees developed campylobacter. stomach has almost been cast iron since (save again for over indulgence)
bp all good last medical
think this is a goer, may give the Pulmonary Embolism a pass tho (hopefully). will report back on standard of post-drain deliciousness!

man, got there too late! turned away!
it was like walking into a strange bar where all the regulars turn and look at you... all the 'old hands' using all the available disposables, all begging for some + karma... scared of me stealing some of their good fortune...
turned into a wee mission now... i will break into this clique-y pseudo-political blood giving group! they will treat me like one of their own!
then i can inner-laugh at the new guy...
