Weird Science, Lee Perry-Smith (3D)

Title: Weird Science
Name: Lee Perry-Smith
Country: United Kingdom
Software: After Effects, BodyPaint, Lightwave 3D, Photoshop, ZBrush

I have been working on photo realism for about 5 years. I use many different software packages. THis piece took about 2 weeks to complete.

Originally posted this work back in January, I have now finally had time to finish it. No projection techniques used contrary to what people may think. All assets are available on my site and I can supply any wire frame/texture/mode/uv shots if requested.

The image is based on reference photography of a very special nite that I hold dear to me.

Regards

I N F I N I T EB

Below is a link to a .mov of the model with out the hair and a spin of the room without the model. You have to remember that this was never intended to be viewed from multiple angles.

I recommend turning on loop in quicktime:

this looks like top row and cgtalk viewers choyce award to me. 5 stars is too little...i wish i could give you more. This is one of the most impressive and real cg images i ever seen...actualy i think it's the best i ever seen. It just screams real...lighting, textures, her skin, the facial expression....everything. In any other circustance i would have instantly thought it was a photo.....and i would still be skeptical even now after it's posted in the 3d gallery but i am familiar with your work and i know you have the skill to create such a great image

Yes, I'd like to see a wire frame.

I don't usually get fooled into thinking this 3D such and such is really a photo but this time I had to read the others posts to believe it was not.

So I guess the right phrase is, "Holy crap, that's good!"

Samples:

Hey Guys,

Thanks for such a great response. Currently my Lightwave Dongle is broken so It is kind of hard for me to load up the file and get screen grabs but I have attached some relevent screen grabs and info on this piece. I will post the final shot in shaded wireframe view when I can activate my new copy of Lightwave.

I will get around to saying hi to everyone later tonight, thanks for all the kind words guys !

Cheers
