This may be just another coincidence but there are some elements that seem to be common between the logo designs of Google Chrome and that of ThinkFree.
It’s not the official Thinkfree logo but is part of the installer that ships with the desktop version of Thinkfree Office 3.

Philipp Lenssen and Flickr members have come up with these illustrations to hint that the inspiration for Google Chrome logo may have come from Simon and Pokemon.

Earlier, Harry McCracken wrote about some similarities he found between the logo design of Google Chrome and that of Windows Vista - "No, the Chrome and Windows Vista logos are not true twins, but they’re both round and shiny, with the same color scheme–red, green, yellow, and blue."

Am sure these all are mere coincidences but the Thinkfree designers probably aren’t too happy about this and have made a ‘parody’ video on how the Google Chrome logo was designed.

Hahaha, nice comparison. I particularly liked the idea that Google Chrome’s logo probably came from Pokemon’s Pokeball. lol

There is a definite similarity between the ThinkFree installer logo and Chrome logo, however the other illustrations in the post are pretty good too.

hi Amit, nice post and also your newly designed layout is cool. Chrome is a sign of things to come. It definitely will find its share of devotees especially the not-so-techie types but who recognize Google as a brand name. Being the Firefox user that I am, it would be interesting to know what the Mozilla guys have to say about the new kid on the block.

@Dima Sirotnikov
Chromium is the project behind Google Chrome and has just been started, so Chromium stole Thinkfree’s logo as well…
Well, no one has ideas anymore…

Interesting Amit but I don’t think Google switched the colors to create Chrome logo. For now the battle will continue until Google dominate the browser market like it did with their search engine.

They could have tried having CHROME effect on the logo… it would have given a totally different look and feel altogether!

lol. that is a pretty good illustrations of how google chrome logo was designed. Google Chrome has copied most of the codes from firefox and added some new features to it. I for one don’t like google chrome. I don’t know, maybe because I am used to firefox and it extensions.

Mmmmh, I think you all must look at the “eyes” and the lenses of the spying device of the martians in the ancient @War of the Worlds@ movies. There you’ll find another fountain of ïnspiration” for several of these logos and items! lol L. :o)
